Wells Fargo Legal Department

Gonzalo E. Frias has recently joing the Legal Department at Wells Fargo Bank. He previously was an attorney and manager within Duke Energy’s Law Department. He led the company’s strategic efforts related to outside counsel engagement and legal practice management. Prior to joining Duke Energy in early 2014, he was a commercial litigator with Winston & Strawn and McGuireWoods, two large international law firms with offices in Charlotte. While in private practice, he frequently represented Fortune 50 companies in business disputes in state and federal courts around the country. 

Mr. Frias volunteers in numerous community service roles. He currently serves as regional president for North Carolina and South Carolina of the Hispanic National Bar Association. As regional president he is also a member of the national organization’s board of governors. He also maintains an active pro bono docket through partnerships with Legal Aid of North Carolina and Legal Services of the Southern Piedmont. Mr. Frias has handled numerous pro bono cases over the years, ranging from custody petitions to representing indigent clients in housing disputes. 

Mr. Frias obtained his law degree from the American University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science/business administration from the University of Florida. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and Mecklenburg County Bar.
