Gonzalo E. Frias is senior counsel with Wells Fargo’s Legal Department in the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review & Law Firm Management Section. He previously worked for Duke Energy’s Legal Department, leading its strategic efforts related to outside counsel engagement and legal practice management. Prior to joining Duke Energy, he was a commercial litigator with Winston & Strawn and McGuireWoods, two large international law firms with offices in Charlotte. While in private practice, he frequently represented companies in business disputes in state and federal courts around the country. 

Mr. Frias volunteers in numerous community service roles. He presently serves on the Board of Directors for Legal Aid of North Carolina, the state’s largest legal services provider for low-income people.  He also has handled numerous pro bono cases over the years, ranging from custody petitions to representing indigent clients in housing disputes.  Recently, Mr. Frias also completed a three year tenure as regional president for the Hispanic National Bar Association.

Mr. Frias obtained his law degree from the American University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and Mecklenburg County Bar.
